When buying software for your company, have you considered all the options? Are you aware that there are software equilvalents to the commercialized and typically high-priced software? These software packages are comparable to Office Suites, Accounting Programs, Design Programs, Presentation Software, Web Authoring Software and the list goes on.
Most of these programs are better than their commercial counterparts when it comes to functionality. Some software comes with a price tag, typically tens to hundreds less than the commercialized programs. When you consider the number of licenses that your business may need, the difference it could make could mean tens to thousands of dollars worth of savings. Some commercial software has to be re-licensed each year. So, over the course of ten years the savings can amount to hundreds of thousands of dollars!
Additionally, there are many of these software packages that do not have a price tag at all. They are free programs built by geeks that are fed up with paying the high price for programs, when half of the commercial ones are filled with enough bugs to start a rain forest. That is not to say that these programs are bugless. I have yet to see software that did not have its share of problems. There is a bright side, however. You can at least feel better about NOT spending several hundred dollars on a program that locks up your computer.
